GPS is probably fine, but only an approximation of where you are. Maps aren't always perfect, since the Earth is round and "bumpy". The maps aren't always totally accurate. That said the GPS isn't 100% accurate either. I've noticed the odd jump out into the woods with my 7x on a straight in and out.

Cromebook, not supported by garmin. I was able to find and install the older GPS 3.0 update via USB and a file manager, and that got it back working. Seems like some people had their GPS firmware stuff corrupted on the latest 'update' and the fix is to reflash that portion if you can.
As this has been out for 3 months, if it was causing a new GPS problem the forum would be full of threads on it. Without seeing examples, one common cause of a non-smooth track is being in Ultra track mode so I would check the GPS settings for the activity. You might also want to test different GPS, GPS+Galileo/GLONASS combos.
